The family of a 90-year old woman who died after a fall at her nursing home has filed a lawsuit against the Indiana facility that was charged with her care. Mary Foddrill's femur was broken in two places when an employee of White River Lodge nursing home dropped her when getting her out of bed.

The suit alleges:

Failure to follow physician's orders.
Failure to follow facility policies and procedures regarding the use of gait belts during transfers.
Failure to adequately train the facility staff.
Failure to maintain acceptable parameters of hydration, monitor changes in medical condition and notify family of changes.

The accident occurred in May, and Foddrill died in September. She had been moved to a new nursing home after being released from the hospital, in part because White River Lodge failed to notify the family of the incident until nearly a week after her fall.
