I’ve been doing a lot of reading and even watching of books written about or by our forefathers. From the Federalist papers to the biographies, it dawns more and more on me how far we have fallen from the beauty of what our brilliant forefathers created. Now, we are engaged in the 21st Century where our vote in the next very few elections could decide the course of our children’s futures as free men and women unencumbered by the tyranny and oppressiveness of government that forefathers shed so much blood for.

I would not delve to tell you how to vote or who to vote for. Occasionally we discuss topics on here designed to inform you on civil justice issues but I feel its also an attorneys civic duty to encourage you to vote.

I’ve become horrified at how we as Americans are more knowledgeable mudslinging half truths and other divisive issues than we are of the basic principles of government that great men spent their lifetimes crafting for our benefit. I’ve heard from both extreme sides the terms racist, bigot, senile, muslim, too old, too young but seem to rarely hear discussion of the issues and stances of the persons running for office. We hear moral issues discussed more than we hear the term federalism, freedom and oppressive government. I fear greatly for this country because we value more information about Britney Spears than the fights of Hamilton, Madison et al in a small room in Philadelphia.

Its time for American citizens to recognize the path paved by our ancestors and make this country better including removal of oppressive political quasi monarchial figures that control this government in either party. Whether you are democrat or republican you should take back the parties of Jefferson, Adams, Lincoln et al. Rise up America and take back your country less your country takes over you. Exercise the most basic of freedoms and vote for the candidate of your choice.

I for one will pray fervently for my country as I pray it illuminates as times past for my children in times future.

I reminded of a few quotes of our forefathers which are appropriate:

John Adams: “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution is designed only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for any other.”

George Washington: “Experience teaches us that it is much easier to prevent an enemy from posting themselves than it is to dislodge them after they have got possession.”

Thomas Jefferson: “A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.”

Abraham Lincoln: "I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. . . . corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed."
